January 1, Again
A new calendar year, that’s about all it is to me. I’ve never gotten super excited about ringing in the new year. It seems to me we just keep plugging away the same as we did in the last days of the previous year. Sometimes that’s not necessarily good, sometimes it’s not that bad, either.
There’s no reason to start doing something different because you had to go buy a new calendar to track your life on. Fact is, we’ve been turning the pages of a calendar and getting a clean, fresh page every thirty or so days for our entire lives. Hell, some people have a new page they turn to or start every week, or even every single day!
I have trouble setting goals – because I have trouble with execution. I am not good about executing ideas for myself. I can plan and take charge and execute other peoples ideas, or my ideas for them, but when it comes to me…I just walk away and move on to something else, something that seems more pressing or important. I don’t know why I do this.
So, this year I don’t have any new, specific goals. I have the same hopes and desires that I did last April, last July, last November.
- Start college in the fall (for what – I have no idea, but that is NOT the point)
- Write more
- Get a part time job
- Love my husband better
- Not yell at my kids so much
- Keep writing cards and letters and mailing them
- Go to therapy
Do you have goals or set new goals each year? Can you tell me why you do it and what the significance is for you?
Do you trudge along, like me? If so, I’d love to know the significance of that, too!
None the less, I hope you have a great TwentyThirteen.
